From my heart to yours during this Thanksgiving Holiday; a Celtic Blessing …

A Blessing for the Senses

May your body be blessed.
May you realize that your body is a faithful and beautiful friend of your soul,
And may you be peaceful and joyful and recognize that your senses are sacred thresholds.

May you realize that holiness is mindful, gazing, feeling, hearing and touching.
May your senses gather you and bring you home. May your senses always enable you to celebrate the universe and the mystery and possibilities in your presence here.

May the Eros of the Earth bless you.

Aloha~ Gina

“Setting an example is not the main means of influencing another, it is the only means.” Albert Einstein

Words to hold close as we embrace a new President of the US.

As we hold our elected officials to the light and look for them to set an example for our country to live by may we- each one of us also hold ourselves to the same light.

May the change we wish to see in the world begin inside ourselves.

May your day be filled with loving kindness.

For many people food has become a science, something to calculate and keep track of rather than a natural and joyful process. There is of course a place for wise and healthful choices in our meals and the planning of them. Yet when thoughs of food rule the day it is time to take a good hard look at what is going on.

For whatever your reason may be if thinking about food and your next meal or meals has become a dread you may be on your way to an abnormal relationship with food. At the extreme this can become a disorder an Eating Disorder also known as ED. Has food has finally gotten you down and you no longer look forward or even crave your favorite foods any more because you have fears or doubts about the content of everything you eat? Perhaps you have the flip side of the same coin and cannot control your eating and once you start you simply find it impossible to stop.

Eating Disorders affect approximately 5- 10 million girls and women, and 1 million boys and men in the US and are very serious left untreated. With the increase of focus on body image in men and boys now they are unfortunately are increasing in numbers very rapidly. As with most disorders the earlier the problem is detected the better.

Here is a look at some symptoms that may be cause for concern:

*Negative Self Esteem-You feel bad about yourself and feel you are not a good person.

*Negative Body Image- You think your body is disgusting and feel uncomfortable to think of people looking at you. You generally try to hide your body (wearing baggy clothing, won’t wear a bathing suit etc). You have a distorted view of how your body looks (you think it is much bigger than it really is).

*Feeling Out of Control- You feel no control over your life and actually feel food controls you. Most of your thoughts revolve around food and losing weight.

*Feeling Depressed- Sad and hopeless about your life and the future. You feel like you want to hurt yourself or die.

*Isolation- You no longer involve yourself with friends and family or activities you once enjoyed.

*Restricting Food- You eat smaller and smaller portions and you easily skip meals.

*Binging- You eat large quantities of food in a short amount of time and feel out of control of your behavior.

*Purging- You do things to get rid of the food you did eat. Examples; vomiting, laxatives, over exercising.

Another difficulty with food is Emotional Eating and again this can be a risk factor in developing an eating disorder.

The above symptoms do not necessarily mean you have an eating disorder, it may mean you are at risk for developing an eating disorder and getting help early may make the difference.

In case you did not read the Newsweek article on eating disorders here you go!

Now I have to say I am grateful to see something out there regarding this huge issue in our culture yet I was somewhat surprised at the focus of the comments….many were more worried about calling blacks black and whites white than focusing on the fact that they are all equally at risk for running into an eating disorder and that their male counterparts were also much more at risk than they may have previously thought.

I guess I should not be surprised as one of the reasons ED is as prevalent as it is is because of the lack of focus on the problem and the never ending circle dancing with a multitude of distractions and excuses instead.

Curious? Try a look at the gurze website for a plethora of information and suggestions on what to read. Awareness is not just the answer for the dear one suffering with an eating disorder but is is also the way for those who interact and live with them.

Awareness, watching what we are doing with curiosity -what a concept, what a way to make a change in your world!

Be well!

What an incredible and shifting afternoon!

Having heard of the amazing shifts that take place during Family Constellation Therapy Work I immediatly said yes to my daughter’s request that I join her as representatives as a man goes through the process.

Little did I know just how much I was going to be participating. Without going into a lot of detail I was fully immersed into a family constellation that I can only call collective….what else could it have been that would have touched me so deeply and fully?

Being picked by the man who was doing this work to represent his mother -I was both honored and nervous. The love, entanglement and conflicts I felt were common and able to be resolved by understanding and incorporating the “orders of love”.

We all have this in common -we have all been given life by these two people we call parents -we all share this amazing thread that can weave a beautiful tapestry once we clearly see our place in this constellation.

While I have much myself to process around this I wanted to share the idea with you and offer the opportunity for you too to say Yes!

Much Aloha~ Gina

woman on Holosync

While there are many ways to stay stuck in a situation or unhealthy life pattern one of the most prevalent I see in my practice is black and white thinking. Many hold on to this thinking as if it were a life raft while in reality it is a lead weight dragging them to the bottom of the ocean floor. Not easy to see and not easy to let go of that which they believe is real and right.

So why I did not connect these dots sooner I don’t know but Bill Harris and his Holosync program is able to shift without effort…well effort is required such as sitting still with headphones on but when you look at what is usually required to change a strong belief Holosync is almost effortless. So check out Bill Harris and enjoy!

This is a wonderful practice for many of my clients, I am looking forward to getting them tuned in.

Aloha! Gina

”Start by doing what’s necessary, then what’s possible, and suddenly you are doing the impossible.”
-Saint Francis

How many times have you looked at a life goal or a project and felt totally overwhelmed. Impossible it feels just plain impossible to get there from here. This is the challenge -the thought, not the goal or the project as big as it might be -but our thinking.

Saint Francis seems to have summed it up quite nicely:

Start by doing whats necessary…

This alone speaks volume to me-star-just that alone will get you somewhere! Then by doing what’s necessary -well of course you say. Yet I for one have done almost anything but what was necessary when it came to a project. You must know the drill-the taxes are due and all the paperwork is lined up in front of you and you decide to color code the file tabs so next years files are even better organized than this years. Now color coded files are pretty and may even be helpful all year as you file paperwork but today the taxes are to be done and no amount of color coding will help.

…then what’s possible…

I find this is where the juice begins to flow. Hands dirty form the project and the feeling of no turning back sets in-a deep breath and maybe a little rest but the focus is on the path and all that is possible. This alone-what’s possible- is enough fuel to keep me up at night burning the midnight oil. Incredible amounts of work are accomplished in this state and fatigue seems to have lost my address.

…and suddenly you are doing the impossible.

I hope you are with me on this part of the equation because this really is it! This is where all the magic happens- you are just plugging along doing what’s necessary. Then seeing what’s possible getting all excited and deeply in tune when what seems like suddenly and out of nowhere it happens -the big break, the wind fall, the person who can move you forward by leaps and bounds -that you didn’t even know existed, appears and you are doing the impossible!

Big Mahalo to Saint Francis for saying it so simply and reminding us how miraculous every day is.
